Yes, one end cap is removable to refill-recharge when needed. A standard spanner wrench is needed to remove the end cap. Just unscrew the cap, remove the filter screen and replace the charcoal.
It is a common item that can be purchased cost effectively at many locations locally. It is commonly used in aquarium filters, fresh drinking water systems and water purifiers. We use and recommend pellet style so it compacts tightly in the trap and there is little to no dust.
it is subjective, but in general circumstance on an automobile stored in a garage, they can last up to a year in normal life.
If you happen to start smelling fuel again, it is time to replace the charcoal.
our vapor trap can be used anywhere fuel openly vents to the atmosphere thru a vent line.
Cars, Trucks, RV's Campers, Lawn equipment and more. They are designed to eliminate fuel odor especially for garage kept products.
It is not recommended to add an additional Vapor Trap to a modern vehicle that already has an active charcoal system installed from the factory.
Our Vapor Traps are made for vehicles that did not come with a charcoal return system, such as classic cars, custom cars and older, pre-emission vehicles.
Yes, they can be used to eliminate a variety of odors from containers that vent directly to the atmosphere.
Absolutely. Our Vapor Traps come threaded 9/16 x 18 UNF industry standard.
Our premium kit comes with two (2) 6AN 3/8 barbed fittings that fit standard 3/8 fuel vent lines.
There is a huge variety of barbs, connectors and fittings available on the market to fit any possibility you may need for your application. We recommend purchasing the BASIC kit if you plan on supplying your own independent fittings.
Just make sure you purchase fittings with 9/16 x 18 UNF thread.
NPT (National Pipe Thread) thread will NOT work with our Vapor Traps.
Yes and no. The activated charcoal lasts a very long time, but will eventually be "saturated". You can rinse and clean the charcoal, but it will never be as good or last as long as its original state and the length of protection will slowly diminish each time its cleaned.
To properly "re-charge" it, it will need to be heated to around 1200 Degrees for about 30 minutes to completely burn out any residual contaminants and return it to its natural, original condition.
It is generally something that is not worth the effort when replacement charcoal is so readily available and cheap.
